“If you play a brass instrument in Cornwall, Devon, and beyond, and your instrument needs repairing or a service, the go-to person is Andy Liddicoat at Brass Monkey. He’s just repaired a cornet for me which had suffered damage, including repairing the lead pipe, removing dents around the bell flare, re-aligning the third section, removing scratches, and lubricating: indeed, a full overhaul, for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!”

"It's been an absolute delight to play my newly restored cornet at carol services and events this Christmas. It's the first instrument I ever blew, and remember 'having a go' when it belonged to my great uncle Jack - who along with his father and brothers had at one time made up a large part of Holsworthy Town Band. He died when I was 6, and it later found it's way to me as the only brass player in the family, although due to age deterioration as well as a lifetime of clumsy repairs -patches and solders - it had become virtually unplayable - certainly in any way of tuning with other instruments! Andy has painstaking returned it to it's former glory, whilst still keeping all it's individuality and character. Bumps and lumps have been straightened and in extreme cases small parts replaced, but every intervention has been made with extreme care and deep consideration. Andy kept me informed throughout the long process about each step he was taking, and I felt reassured that it was in good hands. The resulting sound is mellow and beautiful. I really recommend Andy to anyone who has a brass instrument that needs that little bit extra care and love"

Andy (Brass Monkey) did a repair to my Bach trombone.

It was knocked and fell off its stand during a concert and the slide was jammed.    Andy worked his magic and the slide is now as good as new.

His workmanship is excellent and I recommend him for instrument repairs.

Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

Andy has done a number of jobs for us on various instruments. We have found him to be friendly and approachable, very reasonable as to costing, honest about what he can & cannot do and quick to get the job done to a good standard. At one point Andy had finished on an instrument but wasn't happy so took it back to do more work free of charge - this shows a workman proud of what he does. In my opinion you couldn’t ask for more! I would recommend Andy to anyone and he will be our 'go to man’ for any future jobs.

I took a gamble on an Ebay cornet, and took it straight to Andy. He has done a fantastic job and I'm really happy with it. A quick turnaround, excellent communication and very reasonably priced. Thank you Andy :-)

I would recommend Andy. Did a great job servicing my euphonium as I was having trouble with a couple of the valves and some of the slides were stuck. All working perfectly now! Nice guy who knows what he’s talking about.

Andy has repaired two of our cornets (one of which was in a dire state!) Im so pleased, of not just the quality of the repairs, but also Andy’s level of professionalism and enthusiasm.

He has an eye for detail, and you can tell he takes pride in is work.

I would recommend to anyone who either needs a repair or even just a service. Vey good value, and a pleasure to deal with.

Andy has done a cracking job on servicing my euphonium. All the slides that were stuck are now free, the fourth valve works again, and the lyre no longer blows in the wind after work done on the lyre holder. And it looks like new! I would definitely recommend Andy at The Brass Monkey for any work required on brass instruments. The work is of a very high quality and was done in a very timely manner. A very professional service.
